About the Project
Important features of the house include the outdoor pavilions, essential for repose and also for parties. Two were added one at the back, one at each end of the pool, the one at an upper level being provided with an integrated seating and a fireplace.
At the front of the house, there are two more covered porches or 'stoops', also ideal for reading or parties.
The furnishing of the house was also carefully mainly selected from Local sources, to retain a gently African feel, with some artefacts from Indonesia.
Another interesting idea is the island/ dining table arrangement, where they can be linked to provide seating for 18 persons!
Traditional Cape Dutch house in Plettenberg Bay, remodelled to create a contemporary open plan home, integrated with its landscaped gardens, outdoor pavilions and loggias.
This modest size house in the heart of Plettenberg Bay was totally reorganised and reoriented to benefit from the beautiful garden that now surrounds it.
It was a typical colonial style property, with few interesting features and therefore needed a total transformation, including removal of false ceilings where possible.
Total transparency was achieved between the front garden and the pool deck to the rear, with its foldaway doors, giving an indoor-outdoor aspect to the living space.
